Poems about fear
A link to a poem with greater relevance to poems about fear (or as some would have it 'pomes / peoms about fear' ;) ) will be listed higher and, if supported by your browser, displayed in a bolder colour than a link to a poem with less relevance to horror poems (or indeed 'horror peoms / pomes').
Nuff
The one supernatural being everybody should fear
Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself
They say that you have nothing to fear but fear itself. They're wrong.
Flee
How would you deal with your fear if faced with a monster like this?
Tentacles of Love
When your thoughts wrap themselves, like tentacles, round the idea of your love your fear is that your love will disappear
Fear
One of the best known fear quotes is Franklin D. Roosevelt's "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself" (even if it is normally misquoted as "nothing to fear but fear itself".
Fortunately that was just an early soundbite and the full quote in context goes into more detail. Just as well as taken by itself it is obviously a load of bovine excrement!
We fear things for a reason. Our body does the "fight or flight" fear response for a reason. That reason is that fear, most of the time, is a useful tool that helps keep us alive. There are some things of which we should be afraid. It is entirely understandable how fearing dogs, snakes etc has come to pass from our primal fears and it is eminently sensible to treat such things with a healthy respect. How the system gets coopted to be afraid of things such as public speaking, open spaces, enclosed spaces, commitment etc is less obvious.
It is only when such innate systems get out of hand and escalate into phobias that fear is a problem but the same could be said of any biological system e.g. cancer is a normal process (cell division) that has gotten out of hand. Then we need to overcome our fears to stop them from adversely affecting our lives instead of saving them. In other circumstances attempting to overcome fear could be actively dangerous (and something to be afraid of?!).
So will I be attempting to live without fear. No fear!
(You wouldn't have fought there were that many ways to misspell a four letter word but this page has been found on fera, fera's, feard, faer, feer, frea, fesr, fere, and the oddest is frear)
