Fantasy Poems...
...is that "Elves and Daffodils"?
Fantasy, science fiction and poetry can all be easily misunderstood if you come across bad examples of each. Such examples, most definitely, do not count as literature. Cliches, jargon, forced rhymes and greeting cards can all contribute to the type of writing that nobody quotes.
So what chance does fantasy poetry stand?
Fantasy is not about elves, trolls, fairies, the phoenix, witches, wizards, dragons or magic even if these do make an appearance.
Science fiction is not about automatic cars, personal jetpacks, robots, spaceships, space travel or little green men even if these do make an appearance.
Poetry is not about daffodils, full moons or navel contemplation even if these do make an appearance.
Science fiction or fantasy poetry, as each of the above, should, whatever appears within it, be about people and their perceptions. So you will find poems about love, goals, good vs evil, wonder, Christmas, frustration, exploitation, preconceptions and the rest.
Also, personally I prefer narrative poems & humorous poems so, mostly, those are the types of science fiction and fantasy poetry you will find at Fantastic Poems.
